Hot chocolate 274x300 Hot Chocolate WeatherWhat’s one good thing about the colder weather?  HOT CHOCOLATE.  Sometimes, there’s nothing that makes you feel better than a nice, warm cup of hot chocolate!  Whether you are making some at home, in the office, or stopping by Simpatico Espresso for a cup, it seems like everyone loves this childhood favorite!  See below for your little history lesson of the day – of course, about hot chocolate!

History of Hot Chocolate:
Chocolate was discovered by the explorer Hernando Cortez and brought to Europe in the early 1500s. They drank it cold, flavored with wine and chili peppers, and not sweet. The Spanish were protective of this new beverage, and it was over a hundred years before it began spreading across Europe. After its was introduced in Spain, the drink began to be served hot, sweetened and without the chili peppers.
